Ralph Lauren Introduces The Dog Walk

ASPCA Rescue Dogs Take to the Runway to Present Ralph Lauren Fall ’13 Accessories Collection
New York, N.Y., – Ralph Lauren is pleased to present The Dog Walk – a unique digital collaboration showcasing the Ralph Lauren Fall 2013 Accessories Collection in collaboration with the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®). The Dog Walk, which premieres October 15th at RalphLauren.com, offers a new dimension to the luxury world of Ralph Lauren accessories, while raising awareness in support of animal welfare.

Through the use of 3-D imaging, The Dog Walk is an innovative video presentation starring ASPCA rescue dogs along with standout pieces from the Ralph Lauren Fall 2013 Accessories Collection – adding a new element of movement to the world of Ralph Lauren.

The video, which launches in celebration of Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month, follows various dogs alongside chic city women. Each is stylishly outfitted in Ralph Lauren accessories as they leisurely stroll through iconic streets from New York City to Paris and past signature Ralph Lauren stores such as RRL on Bleecker Street and the flagship store on Avenue St. Germain. The cityscapes appear in black-and-white, while the Ralph Lauren luxury accessories stand out in radiant colors, highlighting signature pieces from the collection such as the classic Ricky Handbag, timeless jewelry, adorable pup sweaters and elegantly crafted dog carriers.

“Ralph Lauren has a long-standing history of supporting philanthropic endeavors, and dogs have always been an important part of the Ralph Lauren lifestyle,” said David Lauren, Executive Vice President of Advertising, Marketing and Corporate Communications at Ralph Lauren. “We are very excited to be working with the ASPCA to help promote adoption and bring awareness to the cause in this creative way.”
From October 15 through November 15, Ralph Lauren will donate 10 percent of the sales of select merchandise featured in The Dog Walk to benefit the ASPCA. Ralph Lauren accessories featured in the video can be purchased at select Ralph Lauren stores and RalphLauren.com.

“There are currently three to four million dogs living in shelters nationwide that would make a fantastic addition to anybody’s family,” said Elysia Howard, vice president of marketing & licensing for the ASPCA. “We are grateful to Ralph Lauren for showcasing these incredible rescue dogs through this campaign, and helping us spread the message that pet adoption is always the best option.”
October is officially recognized as Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month, and the ASPCA is urging animal lovers across the country to commemorate the occasion by doing their part to help raise awareness for homeless animals. The observation of Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month brings attention to the plight of homeless animals in every community and the fact that only 20 to 30 percent of cats and dogs are adopted from shelters and rescue groups.

  1. While walking, a dog should either walk beside or behind you, but never in front of you. The collar should be high up on the neck, giving you more control over the dog. The lead should be short, but long enough to hang loose. If the dog starts to pull, stop and be a tree, or walk suddenly the other way. You can also hire any Pet care professional for this.
